Reviewing Recent Legal Cases on Chiropractors

This webinar will provide chiropractors with a comprehensive review of recent legal cases and the lessons they highlight for clinical practice.

 

Key topics include common issues that arise in negligence claims, the critical importance of informed consent and proper documentation, and an overview of the types of questions typically asked in expert witness reports. 

 

Practical strategies to reduce the risk of negligence claims will be discussed, along with effective methods to strengthen communication and patient safety. In addition, the session will address the personal impact of legal proceedings, offering tools and approaches to manage stress and maintain resilience throughout the legal process. 

 

The event will conclude with an interactive Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to clarify concerns and apply insights directly to their practice.

 

 

Speakers


Peter Tuchin
Profile Picture Speaker – Associate Professor Peter Tuchin (Ret) BSc GradDipChiro DipOHS PhD FACC Dr Peter Tuchin retired from Macquarie University after 27 years as an Associate Professor. Peter’s areas of interest and research include the relationship of posture with neck pain, headaches and migraine, chronic pain syndromes, and the relationship of vertebral artery dissection stroke with chiropractic. Peter was also President of the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australia (COCA), he was on the COCA Executive for over 20 years and was awarded Life Membership in 2017. In addition, Peter worked at WorkCover NSW as a Team Leader and was employed as a National OHS Manager. Peter also has had over 60 papers accepted for international scientific journals and received several international research awards. Peter conducted one of the largest randomized controlled trials on chiropractic for migraine to date and recently completed a systematic literature review on manual therapy for migraine. Peter has given hundreds of conference and keynote presentations, and has given many more talks for community groups such as Rotary, Probus and VIEW clubs.
