The PACC is a national partnership programme is designed to help support health and social care professionals in promoting physical activity for health to patients and service users. The PACC programme is now overseen by a consortium of the National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine in Sheffield, the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK) and Intelligent Health and supported by Sport England
Learning Outcomes
Understanding inactivity trends - Learners will be able to describe and compare current levels of physical inactivity at local, national, and global levels, recognising key patterns and priority populations.
Applying UK CMO guidelines - Learners will be able to explain the UK Chief Medical Officer’s physical activity guidelines and apply them appropriately across different age groups and clinical contexts.
Explaining movement in long‑term condition management - Learners will be able to articulate the role of movement in preventing, managing, and improving outcomes for long‑term health conditions, and in supporting healthy ageing.
Supporting behaviour change in clinical practice - Learners will be able to identify risks and barriers to physical activity, use evidence‑based behaviour‑change approaches, and confidently share resources that help patients increase activity within routine clinical consultations.
