This talk reframes back pain as a condition that often begins in childhood and adolescence rather than adulthood. Drawing on population data, longitudinal studies, and clinical examples, it highlights how early back pain follows distinct trajectories with meaningful consequences later in life.

We will explore how biological, psychological, and social factors interact to shape these trajectories across development. The talk concludes with practical clinical messages on triage, communication, and management of paediatric back pain.
